Here’s what we know and the story hasn’t changed in almost 50 years.

Mesmerized by the strange light, the men stopped and stared at what they said was a disc shaped, metallic object hovering about 100 feet in front of them. Travis Walton then got out of the truck to get a closer look and became scared when the craft began moving. As the craft started to make a loud humming noise, Walton bolted to the ground and hid behind a nearby log.

His crew mates shouted for him to get back in the truck and without any further hesitation, Walton stood up hoping to make a mad dash to safety. But at that moment, Travis was blasted by a force that propelled him backwards several feet. Terrified by what they had just witnessed, his crew mates raced away but after driving about a quarter-mile, they suddenly stopped the truck. They looked into the night sky and noticed that the craft was now far above them and moving at lightning speed away from the area. They then rushed back to the scene to get Travis but upon arriving, he was nowhere to be found.

Days later and after a manhunt with helicopters, extra volunteers, and K-9 tracking…
