Sharing the tips with a working professional and exploring the life of purpose of your network

We are just ready to complete our fellowship. As every week, we are assigned a project work and this week we are going to learn tips that will help us to prepare our self and understand industrial environment and life purpose of the people in our network. We learned some tips in Amal academy, and we were assigned to have conversation on those tips with a professional or someone who has an experience of 3–5 years in industry. As I am student, and don’t have such big connection in industry so I decided to contact with one my teacher in my University (Sir Abu-Bakr). He has experience of 7 years in Orient. I got time of 20 minutes by email. It was so interesting and wonderful moment for me when I noticed that he was so interested in the topics and we spent almost 35 minutes in conversation.

These are the tips I was prepared before and wanted to learn more about them.

Tip 1: Put your time in: Everyone starts out doing grunt work till trust is proven

Tip 2: Don’t talk badly about the company or about your boss

Tip 3: Take control of your relationship with your boss and team members

Tip 4: Find a mentor and manage the relationship strategically

Tip 5: Join a professional body and build your network

Tip 6: Embrace change and reflect on what you are learning daily

He said that he is totally agree with all tips I described and he was also working on these tips but he was not known in such a manner of tips. Somehow he was using these tips. I described, what did I learn and what I want to learn now from him. I also told him about the confusion of my life purpose and get feedback on how can be specific to my life purpose.

In order to get full understanding I asked him 3 questions.

He said that he is actually working on fiber optics and he is passionate to work on and learn on fiber optics. He has a lot research on it and really enjoying the field. He said he did not noticed before on sacrifices he had cost to get this step of work and he got inspiration by his own sacrifices and encourage to keep continue work.

At the end, I asked him one advice that I could keep throughout of my life with me.

He said being an engineer, we will face a lot of problems in industry, which we did not have an idea before. So study them and implement full of your technical knowledge to solve the problem. Don’t get tired.

I am really thank full to sir hafiz Abu-Bakr for his time and wonderful chitchat. I also sent him a thank you email when I came back. I am planning to meet again on some day with a new topic. It was not just a project work actually but to know myself.
