VANDALISED PERIYAR STATUE CREATES A CONTROVERSY

The unknown faces tarnishing the Dravidar Kazhagam’s founder, Periyar Statue in the Kaliyapettai, near Uthiramer in Kancheepuram has created a controversy. The undisclosed miscreants had already disfigured the face and hand of the honorable rebel.

The senior police officers rushed to spot to conduct a vivid preliminary enquiry. This statue was installed in honor of the reverend leader before 20 years and was proudly inaugurated by the Dravidar Kazhagam leaders. After the massive attack the statue remains covered with a white cloth for days.

The local residents of the villagers have a deep suspect over the actor Rajinikanth and his party. The recent controversial speech given by Rajinikanth regarding the anti-superstition rally attended by Periyar which carried naked pictures of lord Ram and Sita garlanded with slippers in Salem in 1971 has created an agitation on the Periyar followers over Rajini.

Rajinikanth stating to the press that he would neither apologize for his remarks on Periyar nor express any sort of regret about it, provokes further agitation.
