Things To Download on a New Windows PC

This is a document that describes utility tools and the settings that I use for game development in Windows. Feel free to change or skip the parts however you like.

GENERAL SETTINGS

How to change the device theme to dark in Windows 11:

Select Start > Settings. Select Personalization > Colors. In the list for Choose your mode, select Custom. In the list for Choose your default Windows mode, select Dark.

How to change the default browser(My preference is Google Chrome since it is used the most, therefore most websites work well):

In a file explorer window, make sure you enable to view File Name Extensions, and Hidden Items, as shown. (View>Show> File Name Extensions, Hidden Items)

ESSENTIAL APPLICATIONS

This URL automatically installs selected applications with default settings on your computer. My selections are in the screenshot.

“Everything” is a program to search for files much quicker. To change its theme: Tools->Options->General->Fonts and Colors

After that, we search for 2022.2.2f1 version and install it(Image shows different versions, we want 2022.2.2f1):

After installing, select the right MSBuild version in Rider:
