Anxiety

Everything You Need to Know

Anxiety is becoming more and more common as the years go on. Effecting everyone from roughly six years old all the way on into a person’s older years. Eighteen percent of the United States population ages eighteen or older and seventy percent of teens are effected by it.

Anxiety is a mental disorder where the body naturally responds to stress. When someone has anxiety it means they have low levels of both dopamine and serotonin. It could be caused from big life events, your environment and what you are surrounded by, it could be from your genetics, or it also could be caused by something physical. There are many different disorders associated with anxiety: of course there is the generalized anxiety disorder which is most common, obsessive-compulsive disorder, post traumatic stress disorder, social anxiety disorder, separation anxiety disorder, and panic disorder. If not treated properly, anxiety can lead to depression or even worse, suicide.

There are many symptoms to anxiety. Anywhere from behavioral to cognitive to physical symptoms. Behavioral symptoms include hypervigilance, irritability, and restlessness. Cognitive symptoms include a lack of concentration, racing thoughts, and unwanted thoughts. Physical symptoms include fatigue, shortness of breath, and sweating.

Anxiety is very popular and very well-known especially in today's world. Many people have invented and come up with treatments to help live and cope with this disorder. Many lifestyle treatments include therapy, exercise, meditation, writing, herbal teas, aromatherapy, time management strategies and playing with animals; which is no surprise. Everyone loves puppies… Am I right?

If the lifestyle treatments just are not enough, you may have to look into medical treatments. This could be beta blockers, buspirone, benzodiazepines and even marijuana; which many are for, and even more are against.

Marijuana could be used to help treat anxiety but in some cases, it can make it even worse; everyone’s bodies react differently. Cannabis or CBD, can be used for people who are seeking to reduce or even eliminate pain, spasm, anxiety and more.

THC and CBD have opposite effects on your body when used to treat anxiety. THC is connected to feelings of paranoia because it triggers a certain part of the brain called the amygdala which is in charge of your fears. CBD has the opposite effect.

Hundreds of years ago, cannabis was used in India to help treat depression and since then, it has been studied and experimented with. A few states in the United States have legalized it and many are still fighting for the legalization for the usage of it. It has been proven to help a person with multiple diseases but some people are still on the edge about it because of all of the negative effects it can have on someone which include:

All in all, if legal in your state and if nothing else seems to be working, you may want to look into other options like CBD if prescribed and talked about with a medical professional.
