A WEEK OFF FROM SOCIAL MEDIA

A week off from social media, well after reading the title itself many of the readers might have stopped reading the blog, as it may seem from the title that the topic seems bore, but actually it is not. Today I completed a week off social media, and what I felt was like a complete year spent without my friends mocking me, without sharing what all hardships I faced this week, it was like you have a lot of people beside you to listen but you are dumb. Social media has become a very important part of everyones life especially for the ones living in hostel away from their childhood friends, away from their home, and after all away from the ones they are in relationship with. This past week was quite a bit longer than the usual 7 days week, the consequences of sidelining social media for a week was, many longer duration phone calls which indeed had a lot of interesting stuff to have a talk on rather than us wondering what to talk about, many people asking about how i did with my exams the past week as people have a mindset that one can only be off social media if he/she is having an exam to concentrate on. Saying more about what i experienced this week, i had plenty of peaceful sleep without thinking more about what his/her next text would be after i turned off my data, have at last deduced on who is gonna come for help in my hard times, found a lot of temporary peoples and at last had a great time here in hostel sharing some of my many secrets with them whom i haven’t talked about these in last 2 years.

There are a lot of things I want to share like the messages my chat box read after i opened it after almost one week is “Kya bhai kya kiya itne din?” (what were you up-to in the past week?), I told some but none about how the life of a CS engineer passes by. The life of an engineer starts with the hello world and ends somewhere in the middle of nowhere of what he/she was expecting from the life and what he/she gets. Another frequently asked question was “Bro what did you miss all these days?”, Well what i missed was that mocking memes, some of my good friends. I spent most of my off social media time studying for my exams which i will be having from next week (7th April), this still doesn’t guarantee me scoring good marks in my final exams :P. Talking about “Was being off from social media a really difficult task?”, I suppose, nope it isn’t that difficult as far as you have other activities to get indulge into.

It is not that being away from social media has helped me focus a lot on myself, or has let me focus a lot on studies, social media has its own advantages if used in a proper sense, as it is very well said “No news is a good news” but that doesn’t mean that to get away from the bad things that has happened we stop reading new ;).

All and all it was a great experience and had taught me a lot. I surely want to have a longer break from social media but will try after a few weeks.

P.S: This was my first blog so sorry in case of any mistake, comments appreciated.
